MEN WITHOUT QUALITIES – Ny svensk rocktrio släpper musik i nära samarbete med Niels Nielsen (In Flames, Dead Soul)
De tre männen (utan egenskaper) i bandet MEN WITHOUT QUALITIES har tidigare utbildat sig till kockar, miljövetare och ingenjörer. Trots detta har de mest arbetat som drängar och kontorsråttor. Sin musik (tidigare i konstellationer tungt influerade av Sven Uslings Trio) har de tidigare gått fantastiskt mycket back på.
Den nya musiken har spelats in och producerats i nära samarbete med Niels Nielsen, välrenommerad producent och artist på den östgötska musikscenen:
När vi hade spelat in skivan insåg jag att samarbetet måste fortsätta och det kändes naturligt att släppa deras musik på min etikett, säger Niels Nielsen, producent och musiker som bland annat gjort sig känd med sitt band Dead Soul och för samarbeten med Ghost, In Flames, Tikkle Me och MCC.
Om bandets första singel ”Beliefs” som släpptes den 13 november har brittiska A&R Factory skrivit:
”The sound is something mixed from the past and the future, the vocals are so real and digs deep into your core beliefs. The fascinating story delves into our inner psyche, and is a riveting listen that will have you staring at the sky and wondering how to improve yourself, and be better. Den 18 december släppte MEN WITHOUT QUALITIES singel nummer två, med titeln World of the Rising Sun (Cold Brothers).
Låten avhandlar, precis som debutsingeln ”Beliefs”, känslor av hopp och förtvivlan i en värld på hal is. Texten är skriven av bandets sångare och basist Stone, som förklarar:
Låtens inledning med raderna ”We’re still getting up”, som upprepas flera gånger för att till slut följas av ”to see how the sun rises”, sätter egentligen stämningen för hela det kommande albumet. Oavsett hur mörkt det kan kännas en novembermorgon i dagens värld så går vi alla oftast upp på morgonen och hoppas på det bästa. Vår musik värjer inte för det mörka, tvärtom, men samtidigt måste hoppet finnas där tydligt, det hoppas vi kunna förmedla.
Flera singlar är på gång och den kommande digitala fullängdaren släpps under våren 2021 på Niels Nielsens etikett The Cortina Collective. Fullängdaren kommer även att dyka upp i fåfäng upplaga på vinyl.
Bandets första pressbild är inte tagen av Roy Andersson, även om den blev bra ändå.

Heavy Metal bandet Ibridoma från Italien firar i Mars 20 år som band. Lika hungriga ännu och vi ger er här senaste videon ”Sadness Comes”.
The Swedish duo Profaned, consisting of multi-instrumentalist Henrik Wesström and vocalist Thomas Clifford (Throne of Heresy, Abscession, CLIFFORD, etc), are scheduled to release their 3 track debut on all major digital services on January 28.
Profaned was started in 2020 as the duo wanted to realize their passion for melodic and dramatic heavy metal.
An earlier preview of the track ”Prisoner of the Mind” was very well received by fans around the world, garnering comparisons to genre giants such as Candlemass, Nevermore and Megadeth.
Lyricist and vocalist Thomas Clifford says:
”From the powerful ”Prisoner of the Mind” to the doom-laden ”The end of Eden” and the melancholic ”Enigmatic” (which pays tribute to the achievements of WW2 hero Alan Turing), all three tracks on ”Surreal Existence” give a hint of what’s to come.
We have material for at least two albums in the works, and are now expanding our lineup for future live shows.”
Italian prog/Aor band Silver Nightmares is working on their debut album.
At the end of march, they release their first EP featuring 5 brand new tracks and 1 radio edit of the opening song of the cd: The Wandering Angel. Here there is the comic video of the song:

Dark Zodiak stands for thrilling live shows, a crushing sound, direct interaction with the crowd and a perfect fusion of thrash and death metal, forged from whipping riffs, tons of drums and thunderous female growls.
Dark Zodiak came to life in 2011, rocked all over Germany and Europe, and shared the stage with names like Tankard, Debauchery, Eluveitie, Stillbirth, Pripjat….
In 2013, the first EP „Throwing Stones“ was released, followed by the first LP „see you in hell“ in 2015. The 2017 published „landscapes of our soul“ could win the title Underground truffles in Reviews and numerous events, festivals and especially Metalhead-hearts were conquered.
At the moment, the band mortar is glowing again and it’s being punched and grinded on new death lead grenades, with the intent to ignite a new, clenched explosive charge in 2020 and to get extreme-metal-head-hairstyles to rotate.

Den 21 januari släppte Urtidsdjur sitt debutalbum.
Urtidsdjur från Uppsala spelar psykedelisk proggrock på svenska.
Under hösten har vi släppt två singlar med tillhörande videor inför albumet. Båda singlar har blivit spelade i P3 samt fått stor (eller jao är ju relativt. I alla fall mycket större än vi förväntade oss med tanke på att vi sjunger på svenska) uppmärksamhet utomlands på bloggar och onlinezines.
Den fysiska utgåvan på vinyl släpptes redan i november i limiterad upplaga på 111st ex med handtryckta omslag i linoleumsnitt. Det lutar mot att bli en andra upplaga nu till våren.
Alla skivans låtarna är inspelad sensommaren 2019 i Ebeneser kapell, Bälingebygdens församling, i Granmarken. Vi lånade kapellet och förvandlade det till en studio. Toaletterna blev inspelningsbås för gitarrförstärkare. Trummorna placerade vi framför altaret och sen stod vi och spelade bland kyrkbänkarna.
Urtidsdjur spelar proggrock till toner av tallskog och sommarregn. Musiken är någon typ av psykedelisk progg/indierock med texter på svenska. Influenser kan hittas i bl.a. Bo Hansson, Dungen, Slowgold, och Den stora vilan.
The Petal Falls long awaited music is now being released, much to their fans surprise and delight.
The upcoming albums are the culmination of 2 years of hard work in post-production that will be released
over the next few years.
The unique music and style of The Petal Falls is the result of a lifetime of musical influences that have grown
into a sound that is hard to pigeon hole but is always vibrant, interesting, powerful and surprising in both its
scope and execution it is only recently that the music been made available to be released commercially.

Petal Falls with powerful lyrics merged with huge catchy choruses and lush full on production.

INDEEDs uppföljare till debutalbumet ’Don’t Look Back!’
har landat i form av 4-låtars EP:n ’2020’.
INDEED består av Tenny Smejer (sång, gitarr), Magnus Ohlsson (bas) och Jan Fredlund (trummor), och har sitt ursprung i Älmhult. Sin musikaliska näring hämtar de främst från 70-talets engelska och amerikanska rock-, bluesrock- och popscen.
Sedan debuten 2019 har herrarna ägnat sig åt att skapa och spela in ny musik, spela live samt än en gång ta sig till regionsfinalen i P4 NÄSTA Kronoberg. Denna gång med låten ’Twenty-Twenty (And I’m Alive!)’, som också är titelspåret på nya EP:n. Året före var det med bidraget ’The Monkey on Your Shoulder’.

Friday, 15 January 2021 – STAND UP & FIGHT is the latest release from South African band, FUTURE RADIO. This anthemic rock track champions individuality, encourages the pursuit of purpose in the here-and-now and challenges the idea of conformity.
The song starts off with a driving drum groove, which propels into a crescendo when joined by the guitars. Throughout the song there is a harmonious interplay between the guitars and drums. STAND UP & FIGHT is a song that contains elements of arena rock, featuring big guitars, dramatic production and an anthemic chorus hook. Lyrically, the song centres around the idea of standing up for oneself and self-empowerment.
Johnny Future, the frontman of FUTURE RADIO, admits that this is his favourite track on their debut album, FREEDOM. “I wrote the bridge lyrics long before I wrote the actual song,” he explains. “I wrote it while I was still a full-time teacher, as a sort of credo for how I want to live my life. The rest of the lyrics evolved from that. Besides the lyrics, it is also a fun song to perform live.”
The music video, Episode 10 of Season 1, is a continuation of the main character’s story up until this point. Each track on FUTURE RADIO’s concept album, FREEDOM, is released as an episode created by visual artist and co-founder, Drikus Roets. “The last time we saw our protagonist, he ran out of his boss’ office, leaving only his name tag and tie behind,” explains Roets. “He is finally a free man, but at the same time unemployed. In this episode we find out what Johnny does with his newfound freedom.”

FUTURE RADIO released their debut album, FREEDOM, on Friday, 13 November. Neil Mach, from RAW RAMP described the album as “a brisk and invigorating piece of re-vitalizing rock”. Robin Mumford, of The Indie Plug at OUR SOUND, labelled the album “fresh” and “unique” and encouraged listeners to listen to the album “from start to finish to understand the brilliance in storytelling that Future Radio supply.” Lucy Bower, from GOD BLESS THE BANDS felt that the album has “something for every rock music lover…with innovative riffs, revolutionary lyrics and bold vocals”.
It’s been nearly two years since the Danish rock band Kúlu released their debut EP ‘Quiescence’.
Now they are finally ready with their debut album ‘Lucidity’ coming out on
January 29th, 2021 on Celebration Records.
The group balances their sound in a crossroads between high-potency noise and power discharges to
crystal clear sound textures that authoritatively pave the way. As were they DNA threads that mutate and
creates new meaning in sonic ramifications in all intermediate directions.
In other words, Kúlu is a band who is not afraid to explore sonorous territories, which is obvious to hear on
‘Lucidity’, which can be difficult to categorize genre-wise.
But there are clear references to both Noise Rock and Post Rock.
The album carefully starts out with the track GHOST, which invites the listener into a delicate and porous
atmosphere which almost leaves the listener uncertain if the song will stand or fall.
On the song BIGGEST TONE the band has created a dreamy highway rock song with elements of
atmospheric guitar effects and a machinic beat.
Then over to GRANDEES to become chaotic, witty, atmospheric, noisy and yet incredible insisting on
inviting into its playful musically and lyrically universe
With JOVE the band shows their brilliant sense of effervescent melancholy and then continues to balance
between the porous and voluminous on I’M RIGHT HERE, where the soundscape and instruments sound
like towering monument figures. SEEKING unfolds Kúlus format and levitates on dark wings through a
high-tension and trembling soundscape.
STRANGER is a tour-de-force of propulsion and dynamism when the Congolese percussion
instrument Likembe complements the energetic drums towards the end.
Kúlu closes ‘Lucidity’ with the biggest roar on IS IT BETTER which, in a distinguished manner, takes the aforementioned musical facets to the extremes.

Cult Gothenburg’s thrashers PAGANDOM have just revealed the release date of their third album, “Ashes”. It’s going to hit streaming and download services on January 29th. The physical release is planned for late February.
Last December they released the official video for “Don’t” off their upcoming album “Ashes”. “Don’t” can be found on all popular streaming platforms.
PAGANDOM released demos (1989-92) that had a huge impact on the Gothenburg metal scene. Future members of internationally aclaimed death metal bands used to be devoted fans of PAGANDOM. Disbanded 1996. Reunited for Gothenburg Sound Festival 2014.
Signed with Gain/Sony 2016 and released “Hurt as a Shadow”. Reunion line-up featured Anders Björler of At The Gates, who has been their fan since he was a kid.

NEW SINGLE THE WITCHING HOUR OUT
If Judas Priest and hit songwriter Desmond Child had a love-child, it would undoubtedly be a hideous creature with sex appeal. Much like Carnal Agony. Hailing from northern Sweden, the band is on a mission to pick up the torches left behind by their musical heroes. Their incendiary blend of metal energy and pop melody, spiced up with classical horror themed lyrics, is now ready to be unleashed upon the world.
Building on and further expanding the musical direction of debut album ‘Preludes & Nocturnes’, the second album ‘Back from the Grave’ is already a success with critics and audiences alike. With well over 300 000 Spotify-streams in just a few months the first two singles from the album, ‘Werewolf of Steel’ and ‘Love Will Tear You Apart’, have proven Carnal Agony’s ability to write memorable melodies.

With music and lyrics by Mathias Wallin, the track was recorded at Studio Seven Sweden in Örebro by Ronny Milianowicz. “‘The Witching Hour’ is unusual for us with it’s clear influences from bands like Whitesnake, Heart or Survivor. They’re a part of my musical DNA as well and it was fun to explore that and try to infuse it with metal”, says Mathias. “And when I got the chorus melody in my head I knew I had something special going on.” Guitarist Pär-Olof Persson agrees: “The moment I heard the song for the first time I decided that we had to record a new album. I can’t wait to play this song live!” Vocalist David Johagen chose a different approach to his vocal delivery on the track. “The lyrics called for a more storytelling feeling than the other tracks. I wanted to convey the curiosity, horror and ultimately power in the character’s development and I think that you can hear it in my voice. RAVENOIR – Triumph of the winged one
RAVENOIR, a new formation of heretics centered around frontman Alesh AD, plays an uncompromising, yet technically challenging blend of black and death metal. Their irreverent debut „The Darkest Flame of Eternal Blasphemy“ will no doubt be a breath of fresh air for the black metal scene in Czech and Slovakia.
Apart from guitarist Alesh AD (ROOT), RAVENOIR’s line-up is rounded out by Igor Hubík (ROOT) on bass, drummer Patrik Sas and guitarist Jakub Önslaughter Maděryč.
One of the guests featured on the band’s first outing is Jiří BigBoss Valter (ROOT’s frontman), who contributed lyrics to two songs and lent his unique voice and inimitable delivery to the Prologue to the album.
Another stellar guest is guitar legend Andy La Rocque of KING DIAMOND, whose guitar solo is featured on the title track.
RAVENOIR’s debut will be released under the banner of Slovakia’s Gothoom Productions on February 21, 2021.

The Fouxes har precis släppt en ny singeln ”Fast Love Song”. Detta ihop med en corona-anpassad video, gjord av Hannes Van Dahl.
The provocative, imperious and engaging Swedish-based metal group SOEN reveal the thought-provoking and emotive video for ‘Illusion’, taken from their fifth album, IMPERIAL, set for release via Silver Lining Music on January 29th 2021.
Founder members Joel Ekelöf (vocals) and Martin Lopez (drums), along with Lars Enok Åhlund (keyboards and guitar), Oleksii “Zlatoyar” Kobel (bass) and Cody Ford (lead guitar), are an undeniable cypher for all the issues and emotions which swirl around us. The outfit once more step up to challenge our perceptions of life and humanity with ‘Illusion’, an addictive ballad brimming with bewitching guitar riffs, powerhouse-soaring chorus’ and a poignant message for all of us to reflect on.
“Illusion is a song about the shared responsibility amongst us if we wish to improve the world, change has to be made by us, you and me…the people” asserts Lopez. “It’s about the frustration of feeling powerless but also the hope in realising that things can be changed for the better” further Lopez, “if we stop criticising each other and making enemies of ourselves by blindly following the ideas of politicians and their media.”

In June of 2018, Kivel Records released The Great Affairs’ ’Ten & 2’. That record found the band pursuing a more muscular, guitar-heavy sound, owing as much to their Classic Rock forebears as formative efforts had to the Singer/Songwriter model. Inspired perhaps by their 2017 covers EP ’Six Pack’, where the band mined and re-imagined gems from ’70s FM stalwarts like Thin Lizzy, Fleetwood Mac, and Cheap Trick, the collection openly embraced their various influences to create a sound both comfortably familiar and refreshingly its own.
Now, after a handful of singles, and frontman Denny Smith’s second solo LP ’From The Dark’ in 2019, the band return in the final quarter of 2020 with a new full-length offering. ’Everybody Moves, Nobody Gets Hurt.’ runs the gamut, possibly covering more ground sonically and stylistically in its 10-song arc than all of their previous releases combined.
Teaming once again with Grammy-winning mixer and engineer Michael Saint-Leon(Buddy Guy, Christone ”Kingfish” Ingram), along with Joshua Ketchmark to produce the album, the band made use of the year’s unfortunate circumstances, occupying their quarantine downtime with remote recording sessions at various home studios, and gradually building demo tracks into fully realized arrangements. This process; while logistically problematic at times, resulted in some unique collaborations, and what is arguably their most
polished release to date.

THEIR 2nd SINGLE“THE WHISTLEBLOWER”
In the late 70s there began a movement known as the New Wave of British Heavy Metal
(NWOBHM). Among its most successful acts were Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Saxon.
Nearly a half-century later, Finland-based Renegade Angel is part of a revival dubbed the New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal (NWOTHM). Paying homage to sounds of the past butbringing to forefront the musicianship and technology of the present,Renegade Angel followsup their debut single “Journey Into Madness” with their latest release,“The Whistleblower.”
The song embodies a dark intensity of bands like Grim Reaper and Over Kill but dazzles withboth a Racer-X style shredding guitar solo and Billy Sheehan-esque bass solo. Yes, a bass solo! Soaring vocals bring to mind Judas Priest’s Rob Halford. Renegade Angel’s secret
weapon, though, is its international pedigree. Minor chord progressions channel Yngwie. Andthe band could be dropped onto the Sunset Strip in 1985 and hold their own. Yet they cannot be placed cleanly into any one metal sub-genre due to the broad influences of the members themselves.
The band is the brainchild of Jani Pöysä, who is also the primary songwriter. But its members
have come together from around the globe. Chilean glam guitarist Lukky Sparxx (Exxocet)
handles lead guitar duties. Bassist Charles Berthoud provides the nearly essential English
essence. Vangelis Moraitis’ drum tracks were recorded in his home country of Greece. And
contributing vocals, synth, and guitar is Argentina’s Alejandro Fernandez.
Renegade Angel’s debut single “Journey Into Madness” was released on August 28, 2020 and quickly garnered 6,000+ listens on Spotify. It also sent a sizable shockwave across Facebook and received regular spins on Swedish and Finnish FM radio. This initial acclaim and success has set the stage for the follow-up to go above and beyond. “The Whistleblower” is set for digital release on January 29, 2021, with the band’s next single to be released on February 5.

Polish pagan black metal group VARMIA have premiered their new music video for “Upperan,” the second single from their upcoming third album (and M-Theory Audio debut) “bal Lada.” The clip – which premiered yesterday via Decibel Magazine – was shot on location at a castle in the band’s home region of Warmia and features a guest appearance from Polish “whitevoice” vocalist Jagna. The “Upperan” video is produced by Otwarta Scena.
