Ulf Nilsson signs with Fifth Island Music. New album out in october.

Ulf has signed with the record label Fifth Island Music and is now ready to release his second solo album ‘Make A Move’ on October 23rd.

This album has been in the making for some years now, from early 2015 to late 2019. Three songs in Nashville, six songs in Budapest and one song in Sweden.

”Shoot me down” was recorded in Sundsvall, in the spring of 2015 with Chris Rehn (Takida, Stiftelsen, Europe), ”Make a move”, ”Where you belong” and ”Testify” in Nashville in the fall of 2015 together with producer Matt Hyde (No Doubt, Slayer, Deftones, Monster Magnet) and songwriters Drew Ramsey&Shannon Sanders (Jonny Lang, India Arie, Rival sons, Joe Cocker).

A funny story about my trip to Nashville was that, because ALL hotels were full, me and my manager Sam had to sleep in Drew’s studio (me on a fold-up bed and Sam, who is 6ft9, on a couch half his length) and when Matt arrived he had to sleep on an air mattress in the hall outside the studio! His exact reply to this was – ”I don’t fucking care man, I do whatever it takes”. Matt is such an amazing guy!

Ulf Nilsson – Make A Move 23 oktober.

In the spring of 2019 I took the three Nashville songs to my friend & producer/mixer Mathias Wollo (Taio Cruz, Britney Spears, John Legend, Rascal Flatts) and asked him to freshen up the production a little bit and then do the final mix. He agreed and did an awesome job.

In the summer of 2019 I called another friend, producer/mixer, Karl-Ola Kjellholm (The Band Perry, Tiesto, Sunrise Avenue) and asked if he wanted to produce 6 of the songs for my upcoming album. He was living in Budapest at the time but we met up in Stockholm and recorded scrap vocals for the songs in a hotel room so he could start working on the tracks back in Budapest. The guitar intro on ”Girl I miss you” is actually from that session at the hotel.

”MAKE A MOVE”, means that if you’re not happy with your life or the results you’re getting, don’t complain about it, DO something about it. I am, I’ve set out on a journey into the unknown and it’s scary as hell sometimes, and sometimes I don’t have any idea what I’m doing, but I keep going anyway and that’s how you grow.

I’m truly starting to believe you can achieve anything you want in life if you’re willing to do the work and change, if you’re willing to ”Make a move”.
